Dog or Cat? The choice is YOURS!

Image
DOG OR CAT? The choice is YOURS! This week we started OPINION WRITING! We learned that opinions are personal and they are used to tell others what you think  or how you feel  about something! We learned that we have to use the word  because  when explaining our opinion to tell others why !  We also learned that if someone doesn't agree with your opinion, that's okay! It doesn't make your opinion any less true!  We read the book The Perfect Pet to help us with our writing! We then answered the question "Which animal would you like as a pet?"  Ms. Brink would choose a dog as a pet because she can snuggle with it and they are cute!  Parents! Tell your student YOUR opinion! Dog or Cat? H A P P Y   S P R I N G   B R E A K! I'll see you soon buddies!:)

I am one LUCKY teacher!  Words can not describe how blessed I am to be your child's teacher! This year has been filled with so much love, joy, and laughter! We have learned so much and I am looking forward to how much we continue to learn before the school year ends!  My buddies are my lucky charms and I am the luckiest teacher alive!

We Adopted Animals!

We adopted some pets!  These cute little pets called Miss. Brink and told her that they needed a home and WE adopted them! They are now our DESK PETS! We each have a little home at our seats (upside down snack containers) and our pets live there!  We not only watch and care for our desk pets, but they watch us too!  They are looking for:  *Good Choices  *Clean Work Areas *Friendliness *Participation  *Listening Ears Every night they report back to Miss. Brink and let her know how the day went! If their owner didn't have a good day, we stay in Miss. Brink's home they day:( Hopefully our owner will have good behavior and get us back! When we have good behavior, we earn dojo points! When we don't have good behavior, we lose dojo points! Dojo points help us buy things for our pets!  We are loving our desk pets and we love when they see OUTSTANDING behavior!

Oh, the places we went!

This week we celebrated Dr. Seuss week!  We loved being able to dress up and read books Dr. Seuss wrote!  We learned that he was the author of all of his books which means he wrote the words!   This week we read FIVE books as a class!  *Green Eggs & Ham  *Fox in Socks  *Wacky Wednesday  *One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish  *Cat in the Hat  It was so fun reading rhymes and seeing so many sight words! ;) We also did super fun crafts to go with the books we wrote!  Oh the places we’ll go when we continue to read and learn!!

Larry the Leprechaun has arrived!

LOOK WHO'S CALLING! It's Larry the Leprechaun! We were surprised to receive a call from Leprechaun Larry this week! He even left us gifts- pots filled with GOLD COINS! Don't worry...Easton made sure to check all of the gold coins to make sure they weren't chocolate;) The kiddos also found out that I had Leprechaun Larry's phone number! They were surprised when I gave him a call to update him on their behavior at the end of the day! He wanted me to make sure to tell them that he only visits when they have been on their best behavior and when he can see that they are working hard! He even told me he might bring real gold nuggets next week!  Leprechaun Larry is lucky to know such a great class!  Let's see what he leaves us this week!

Learning about -ap words makes us H A P P Y!

Image
This week we learned all about the -ap word family! We learned that in order for words to live in the -ap house, the word has to have the last name -ap! Knowing these word families helps us become better readers and writers:) We were given an empty house and had to fill each bed room with an -ap word! After all the bedrooms were full, we went back and added a night light for the -ap words!  H E R E  A R E   S O M E  -AP   W O R D S   W E   K N O W: -cap -tap -rap -map -nap -sap -zap We could go on for days! We also found -ap words in our poem called "On My Lap"! We are so excited to see what word family we learn about next!
